As for now, it is very difficult, and in some disciplines totally impossible, to practice Motorsports in the Vasa Region. It is easy to display the unbalance in opportunities to practice Motorsports compared to other leisure activities. Unmaterialized promises for new tracks, and ever increasing restrictions to previously used tracks, have forced the friends of Motorsports to gravitate to other regions like Kurikka, Seinäjoki, Kauhajoki, Jurva, and Alavus to practice and compete.

In Vasa there has been several attempts to establish a Motorsports Center. Up till now the plans have not materialized. The Project now at hand has been worked on for three years. On the12:th of May in 2008, a cooperative, named Wasa Race Park Association, was established by actions of the local Motor Associations. The Objective of the Association is to work towards the establishment and maintenance of a Motor Sports Center in the Vasa Region. In the first phase of the Project, a market survey, commonly used by enterprises, was conducted, and in two weeks more than three thousand people declared their interest towards our objectives. The great interest made us convinced of the need for such an establishment, for the sake of which we are now speaking.

It is imperative to point out that the Project enjoys the support of the Motor Sport People across lingual and communal boundaries. The tremendous Youth Work is displayed e.g. by the Award of Young Finland-Seal to the Sports Car Association of Vaasa. (Only two sports car associations have been awarded this recognition). This Youth Work is aimed at minimizing disturbing driving by offering Motor Sports options under controlled circumstances. The interest of the citizens and people of the suroundings in motor vehicles is displayed e.g. in the crowds that on the first of May are waiting along the streets to watch the parades of various car genres. In addition to the partner associations to Wasa Race Park, several other associations and communities have expressed their interest toward our Project.

The town of Vasa has long Motor Sports traditions, although the activities have faced ever increasing difficulties over the years. As a Town of Motor Industry, Vaasa benfits from a Motor Sports Center and the crowds of spectators it brings.

Our common activities require land for the tracks of at least 50 ha and in addition to that enough space for audience parking lots. Because the Youth Work is of uttermost importance, the center should be close enough to the city, however distant enough not to disturb dwelling. Many options fulfilling these needs are found in the Vaasa Region.

We are ready to execute our Project and we wish to receive the support from the decision makers of the Vaasa Region.
